Appearances & Origins
Citrine is a variety of quartz, the colour ranges from golden yellow to burnt amber and sometimes even slightly green. It is often looked at as a crystal of money, however, it can attract good fortune into all areas of life, not just from a monetary perspective. Naturally occurring Citrine is quite rare, which is the result of natural heat and pressure applied to Amethyst over a very long period of time. Natural Specimens are often more dull in colour like an opaque light yellow or brown. Both man heat-treated and natural Citrine hold immense power and energy.
The element associated with Citrine is fire. Like the sun, fire gives life to everything on earth. In Indian tradition, weddings take place in front of a fire. The fire acts as an all powerful witness to the vows, carrying their essence to the gods. It has been widely popular for thousands of years because of its rarity and also it’s connection to the element of ‘fire’, the sun and properties of prosperity and good luck.
Chakras & Placement
Citrine activates, opens and energises the solar plexus chakra which is the point just below your rib cage and above the navel. The solar plexus chakra provides you with transformational powers for your body and mind to be able to more easily process energy. Citrine, known as the Merchant stone, powers up this chakra and gives super-achievers and day-dreamers the willpower to manifest their wildest dreams into reality. It is a must-have crystal for workspaces, shops, offices and places where you wish to manifest wealth creation and abundance. Hold a piece of Citrine in your hands or lay one on your navel and feel it’s manifesting magic rush through you.
- Citrine is known to fade with the light.
- Extended periods of direct sunlight will cause Citrine to fade.
- The colour change will not affect the energy your crystal omits, however, keep an eye on them.
- If you see some colour change that you prefer to avoid, place your stone in a place where there is indirect or dappled light.
