Selenite

Appearances & Origins

Selenite is a form of gypsum crystal and is iridescent white in colour. This soft, but powerful crystal forms in thin tubular wands. It is a soft form and scratches and flakes very easily, so be gentle. With it’s pristine and elegant white colouring, Selenite looks stunning next to different coloured stones and other crystals. It is widely available in different shapes and sizes.

Named after the Greek Goddess of the moon Selene, the gentle crystal helps to balance the emotional body. Ancient Greeks used Selenite to make windows to let more light in and to see more clearly. Often named ‘liquid light’, Selenite is very commonly chosen as a ‘first’ crystal and used as a guide towards mental clarity.

Chakras & Placement

Known to activate the crown chakra, which is directly linked to the spirit, Selenite allows you to form and understand a deeper connection to the earth. This is the ultimate crystal for clearing and cleansing energies and auras. Selenite provides access to an experience of a ‘higher self’ which stems from the crown chakra. When this chakra is activated, it allows you to experience a blissful state of infinite knowledge called ‘satchidananda’.

Paired with the element of beyond time and space, selenite can work with your crown to give you a feeling of completeness. Selenite also activates the third eye chakra, which allows you to have a sixth sense and nudges you into a conscious and enlightened state.

Keep a wand of Selenite near the entrance of your home or personal space for an instant cleanse on arrival or departure. Overall, Selenite can be placed in any space to keep vibes and energies high and clear.

Use in Daily Rituals

For crystals to reach their optimal potential in daily mindfulness they need to be cleansed. Placing crystals on a Selenite Charging Plate is a great ritual to focus on cleansing crystals from negative energies or previous experiences and intentions.

Our philosophy at Stoned Crystals is to cleanse, charge and activate crystals. Selenite Charging Plates are unique in that from a ritual perspective they have been used to cleanse and charge crystals by placing other crystals on the plate. Which then leaves the crystals to be set and activated with a new intention.

Sunlight Exposure

  • Amethyst is known to fade with the light.
  • Extended periods of direct sunlight will cause Amethyst to fade.
  • The colour change will not affect the energy your crystal omits, however, keep an eye on them.
  • If you see some colour change that you prefer to avoid, place your stone in a place where there is indirect or dappled light.

Crystal Care

In order to maintain positive energy for our crystals to perform at their best, it is important to follow 3 steps:

1.     Cleanse        2.      Charge      3.      Activate
